LTI Tutoring About us
LTI tutoring is a pending Supplemental Education Services (SES) provider.
LTI offers FREE tutoring services to students in low performing schools.
Schools in their second year of school improvement are mandated by the Federal
Government to offer and pay for outside tutoring services. These services
must be provided outside of the regular school day. Either before school,
after school, on weekends, during school breaks or in the summer.
As part of the No Child Left Behind Scat, states are required to set
definitions of adequate yearly progress (AYP). AYP is the minimum
academic progress a school must make in one year of educating a student.
This is measured by your state's mandated annual testing that your child
takes. Schools that receive Title 1 funding but do not make AYP are put
in "School Improvement" status. Schools in school improvement
status must offer SES services to their students until the school shows
adequate yearly progress (AYP) for at least two years in a row. If the
demand for SES exceeds available funds, schools may give priority to the lowest
achieving eligible students.
After a school is designated as "in need of improvement" for two or
more years, the school has to determine what students are eligible. After
that, parents or care-givers are given information about local SES
providers. From there, parents can contact the SES providers. Once
the choice is made, the school or school district enters into a contract with
the SES provider. The school/district then pays for tutoring services.
